Water For Elephants
Water for Elephants starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon was directed by Francis Lawrence.
It is set during the depression, and the director uses the era to tell a rich, colorful story about life in a traveling circus and the trials that two people face. Ad in an incredibly smart elephant and you have an awesome movie.
In the clip above the director uses many camera angles to portray the scene. You have close ups of the two actors, and the elephant. You have wide panoramic shots to include everyone, and you have a tilted approach to look up at Marlena as she sits atop Rosie.
There is a lot of dialogue here and the filming has to work, to show emotion and meaning to the words,

ohh I love this movie and both of theses actors the emotion is truly seen.. the film had great angles to encapsulate all the vivid scenes. I really liked the way they incorporated the tilting approach with Marlena sitting on Rosie.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen this movie but i would like to. It's very interesting that they worked with an elephant being that they had to act around the elephants actions.
ReplyDeleteIts really wild that until this class I never paid attention to any angles, fading or close ups that they do during a film. Now I am picking it out all the time.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched this movie but it does seem moving and very heart felt. This film would definitely touch the emotional and intellectually aspect of art.
